Tea Trekker’s Assam Gingia Estate black tea is an extra-large-leaf orthodox Assam black tea, plucked from its tea bushes during the middle period of the spring harvest (the 2nd Flush). We are particularly excited about its arrival this year because we have not been able to offer this garden’s tea for many years.
We are especially fond of large-leaf, orthodox teas, and this Gingia Assam black tea is a classic example of a super-large-leaf tea from the 2nd flush in Assam. We have had Gingia Tea Estate Assam teas in years past, but they have always been a much smaller leaf in manufacture.
The liquor is malty in flavor but the tea liquor is clear and jewel-like in the cup. The overall flavor is deep and the style is bright – a winning combination in a large leaf Assam tea. This particular tea is comprised of both leaf and tip of a beautiful contrasting golden color. Both the leaf and the tips remain apparent when steeped.
This new Assam tea is a stunner and we are very happy to be able to offer it to our tea drinkers who are enthusiastic about South Asian teas.
