This is a classic, straight-sided, fully glazed teacup. It features a pair of expressively-carved ginkgo leaves glazed in glossy yellow and orange tones. Ginkgo trees are the oldest-existing tree species in the world; fossil records of this plant go back 225 million years. The ginkgo tree can attain an age of a thousand years and is a symbol of Strength and Longevity in both its native China and Japan (in both of which it is quite an auspicious plant).
The colorful leaves are perfectly complemented by the soft, eggshell sheen of the off-white glaze of the cup’s exterior. The rim and interior of the cup are glazed with in a pale blue, high-gloss glaze. It is a substantial, but not heavy, cup that is both durable and comfortable to hold.
Please Note:
Slight variations in the painting, colors, tooling, patterning and kiln effects of Chinese and Japanese tea wares are to be expected. We have carefully photographed this item as best as possible – please be aware that different device screens can render colors and subtle tones slightly differently.
