This tall, cylindrical teacup features a classic Japanese arrow feather pattern in glossy blue and matte white glaze. The blue glaze is slightly raised, creating a nice texture which both gives the the cup a pleasant feel in the hand and provides some extra grip. The cup’s slightly-recessed footring is beautifully highlighted by a narrow band of semi-gloss brown glaze.
The arrow feather pattern is said to represent steadfastness, which is quite fitting since once released, it is the feather that stabilizes the arrow during flight.
This cup is hefty, durable and will hold heat well, thanks to its thick walls. It’s the perfect vessel for tea with a meal, or for those wanting to linger over a cup of tea for a while without needing to refill it.
Slight variations in the painting, colors, tooling, patterning and kiln effects of Chinese and Japanese tea wares are to be expected. We have carefully photographed this item as best as possible – please be aware that different device screens can render colors and subtle tones slightly differently.
