Darjeeling is a former British hill-station and spa
located in one of the most spectacular settings of the
entire Himalaya.
Considered the Champagne of Tea, Darjeeling tea is beloved
worldwide for its clarity, Muscatel-like aroma and clear,
smooth flavor. Developed using 100% China bush, blended
China and Assam bush, or using clonal, modern varietals,
Darjeeling teas vary considerably from Garden to Garden,
much the way that Burgundy wines vary from vineyard to
vineyard.
When the ‘lots’ of Darjeeling tea are released everyone in
the tea trade gets excited and can’t wait to taste the new
offerings. It is easy to just buy a lot of tea and offer a
large selection (usually too many choices).
So here at Tea Trekker we put our experienced palates to
task and try to limit our offering to 6 - 10 well-chosen
lots. Tea Trekker’s Darjeeling selection is a mix of both
First and Second Flushes and we also try to have at least
one choice from the Autumnal pluck, which is often some of
the best, most easy-drinking tea from this famous region.
