Tea Trekker is pleased to offer several excellent
Korean teas from this peninsula that has such an
important history in the evolution of tea and tea
wares. More than simply the bridge, or conduit, of
plant cuttings, knowledge of, and interest in tea from
China to Japan and the rest of the world, Korea
embraced tea centuries ago and contributed
significantly to the historical timeline of tea.
Producing and consuming primarily green tea, Korean
tea interest is focused and rewarding. Korea
manufactures many world-class green teas, most of
which never leave Asia.
The continent of Africa is another location in which
tea flourishes. As European tea merchants began to
look beyond Asia for the appropriate terroir for tea
plantings, East Africa in particular was determined to
be ideal for encouraging lush growth of the tea plants
and has the climate necessary for the efficient
manufacture into leaf tea.
There are other places that produce leaf tea, for
example Indonesia, Mainland Southeast Asia, and South
America. These growths are not currently represented
in the Tea Trekker offerings.
As more unusual teas become available, of the quality
that we demand, the offerings in this section will
change.
